I am looking for a venue on the beach.
I am wondering what types of qustions I should be asking when I am calling around to different venues and locations?
What are important question to ask besides space requirements, suiting my budget and accomodating my guests?

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!
Planning a beach wedding can be romantic and exciting, but you're right, there are some different questions you need to ask to find the right venue.
If there is any way you could, it might be a great idea to consult with a wedding planner, that is familiar with the area where you would like to get married.
Although, they might seem to be another expense on your wedding budget, a good wedding planner will point you in the right direction for best value venues and save you a lot of time.
If that is not possible, there are certainly things you can ask potential venue locations yourself.
One of the most important things you have to check into when you are planning a beach wedding is to find out if the venue is on a public or private beach.
If it is a public beach, just know that you might have to contend with regular beach goers who are probably not going to be clothed in proper wedding attire the day that you are going to be married.
You should also ask if a special permit is required to be wed on the beach and if there are any restriction as to what can be brought to the beach location when you are thinking about decorations, etc.
You should also make sure that your guests will have easy access to the beach so that they can reach your wedding site without problems.
This is especially the case for your elderly guests who might not find walking for any length of time down a beach very easy to do.
Think about the time of year when you are getting married and what the weather will most likely be like.
I know that's hard to plan, so you might want to ask the venue if they have a backup plan in place, just in case inclement weather spoils a beach wedding site.
A good wedding venue will have another location to have the wedding or the flexibility to push the time of the wedding, back a bit of time to see if the rain, etc. will subside.
Go to the site around the time of year and day that you are planning to get married so that you can see what the conditions will be like.
One of the most romantic and picturesque times to get married is right before sunset (one hour before or so).
Not only will you have gorgeous pictures of your event, but also, if it is a public beach, most of the sunbathers will have gone home for the day.
Having your beach wedding just before sunset also means that your guests won't have to contend with a hot, sunny beach and burning sand!
Do indeed make sure that the venue you have chosen and the local vendors have experience with beach weddings and can provide you with three references.
When planning a wedding on the beach, it is always a good idea to let your guests know that you are planning.
This is so that they can plan their attire (dress and shoes/flipflops) appropriate for a beach wedding.
You might also want to make sure you have some things on hand for your guests comfort, such as sunscreen, bugspray, umbrellas, hats, and perhaps some shawls, sweaters or wraps for cool nights.
And a last piece of advice for the bride and groom when planning a beach wedding...make sure you dress appropriately for the beach.
Wear an appropriate
Beach Wedding Dress and pair it with a nice pair of
Bridal Flip Flops.
