Bridesmaid Dresses - Big Day Dresses? or Buyer 100?
by Lara
(Waterloo, Canada)
I'm looking to buy my bridesmaid dresses at either "Big Day Dress" or from "Buyer 100" I was wondering if you know anything about these sites or if they are legit?
Thank you!!
Lara
Answer by Diane:Hello Lara! Thanks for your question and welcome to our community.
It is certainly a good idea to shout out to other brides whether they have heard of either of these two companies prior to ordering.
Let's look at "Big Day Dress" first. It's a fairly new company...the website has been around for only 1 year and 1 month (as of October 2010).
I always check on how easy it is to contact the company. Big Day Dress has a few ways to contact them including via a contact form, email and a phone number (according to reverse lookup, it's probably a Las Vegas cell phone?).
Next, I always check on the return policy and see how the company stands behind their product. This is Big Day Dress's...
All returns must be within 5 days notice by Email or phone call of when the shipment was dropped off from the carrier. You must contact with us to have a return authorization before return it. All returned gowns will have a 40% restocking fee applied from the full purchase price of the gown. No manufacturer will take any gowns back from www.bigdaydress.com so therefore we must have a 40% restocking fee. Once you have obtained a return authorization from us you have 5 business days to get the merchandise back to us. So basically, if you don't like the fit of the dress and want to return it you're going to lose 40% right off the bat and then you're going to have to choose express shipping because it has to be back within 5 days, so depending on how much you paid for the dress, you might be left at zero at the end of the return.
They also don't give you an address to where to return the dress until they give you a return number...something tells me that it would be in China! I don't know...that would be something to find out before ordering from them!
So let's go to your other dress supplier, Buyer 100 next.
It's website has been around for about 2 years 6 months...still a fairly young company and is located in Shanghai, China although I couldn't find a proper street address listed anywhere.
To get in contact with them you have a choice of either a contact form, email or phone number.
Their return policy reads a lot like the other company including the fact that they hold their address a secret until they authorize a return for a dress....
We will surely provide the return address, after we clear the exact reason for the dress problems. please DON'T send the dress back to the sender address on dress package.I don't know about you, but if I am dealing with a business and sending them money, I kind of like to know where they are, don't you?
They also state that they will offer...
100% return(not full refund) guarantee on each item except for custom-made items. but then go on to say that...
we will reduce 30% handling charge of your order.Basically, you will lose 30% of the value of your return and not be reimbursed for your return shipping charges.
In summary, you really have to be careful of these Chinese knockoff sites. If you are not too picky with quality, you might be okay, but there are quite a few negative comments about each.
You might want to stick with an American online wedding dress supplier with a better reputation including
David's Bridal
,
TJ Formal.com,
House of Brides
,
RomanticGowns.com,
MyGowns.com, and
PlusSizeBridal.com.
