How to Create a Hawaiian Bridal Bouquet

You don't have to fly to Hawaii to enjoy a Hawaiian Bridal Bouquet for your wedding. Whether your special day takes place in Oahu or on a local beach, the flowers used in an exotic bridal bouquet will take your breath away with their beauty.

Complete your festive tropical wedding by having a luau for your reception festooned with even more exotic blooms and you'll put on a wedding that no guest will forget.

Hawaiian Bridal Bouquet Flowers

The key here is to use tropical flowers with colorful but rather large blooms. These are some of the best ones to use.

  • Plumeria
  • Orchids
  • Bird of Paradise
  • Costus
  • Calatheas
  • Hibiscus
  • Ginger
  • Pikake
  • Heliconias

Besides the Hawaiian Bridal Bouquet

Other Hawaiian-inspired accents to use, especially for table decorations and centerpieces may include:

  • Palm fronds
  • Pineapple
  • Seashells
  • Coconuts
  • Fresh ti leaves
  • Kukui nuts

Hawaiian Bridal Bouquet Tips

If you are going to go with this kind of exotic bouquet, why not distribute flower leis to your wedding guests.

Although, leis made with real plumeria flowers might be expensive, you can usually find some made with silk flowers and/or shells.

The leis could also serve as wedding favors for your guests.

Although tropical, Hawaiian themed weddings are becoming more and more popular, this does not mean every florist you visit will have experience in this area.

Be sure to ask your florist if she has had experience dealing with the above mentioned quoted blooms and whether she has any pictures of weddings that they have done in the past.

Make sure that you provide plenty of pictures to give your florist the right ideas of what you would expect to have at your wedding.

If you are interested in making your own Hawaiian bridal bouquet, you might want to try to order your flowers online to save money on your flower arrangements.

You should check out the company that you order from online very carefully, as most of these exotic blooms are delicate and require special care and handling.

Be certain that the online flower shop have the skills and experience to work with these kinds of flowers.

Other Hawaiian Traditions to Consider Using

Besides being used for a bridal bouquet, you can also incorporate other Hawaiian traditions into your wedding day.

In Hawaii, it is traditional for the bride to wear a lei made of white jasmine or white orchids.Instead of a lei, she might wear a head lei or sort of crown made from various vines and tropical flowers, instead of wearing a wedding veil. Sometimes wrist and ankle leis are worn as well as adornment.

The groom also traditionally wears a lei made from spicy-smelling maile leaves intertwined with additional tropical flowers. This particular kind of lei is usually worn open, leaving the ends dangling in front.

You can also extend the exotic decorations for your cake table by using fresh ti leaves and exotic blooms like orchids and plumeria.

Make a simple wedding reception centerpieces befitting a Hawaiian themed wedding by floating some candles in a bowl with some orchid and plumeria blooms. Add some sea shells on the bottoms and you have a wonderful, yet simple centerpiece for your reception.

Hawaiian wedding flowers add a luxuriously tropical ambiance to any celebration, whether it is an Oahu beach wedding, a private garden ceremony in Honolulu, or a Hawaiian themed celebration at home.

You can find Hawaiian flowers to purchase through an online website that I recommend at "I Do" Wedding Flowers.
