Popular Wedding Reception Music - Live Band

When I say most costly, I mean it is usually double the price of a dj. The pros of using a band is that it could be more exciting to see live performers at your wedding reception.

However, they can also be less flexible, but can specialize in certain types of music.

To find your band, ask around amongst your friends and family first to see if anyone has a band they would recommend.

Perhaps, they've already seen them playing live at another wedding or event. If not, you could always check in the yellow pages, newspaper, local weekly shopper, online bulletin boards or you could even try your local music store's posting board.

Be sure to check them out first to make sure that they are going to be a good fit with the style of wedding that you are envisioning.

Popular Wedding Reception Music - DJ

This option is about half the cost of a live band and is a popular option for couples getting married.

DJs are more versatile and usually have a very wide selection of music to play at your wedding reception. The really talented ones can even act as host or emcee for your wedding reception.

Some of them even come equipped with their own lighting and fog/bubbles to make your special dance moments even more memorable and magic.

Use the above recommendations on how to find a good one that will fit with your wedding and your budget.

Don't be afraid to interview either a band or dj for the job to make sure that they will be available on your date, whether they charge a flat fee or by the hour.

Make sure that your contract has a provision in it for what will happen if the band or dj cannot make your event. You might also want to investigate the option of Wedding Insurance to protect your wedding.

Popular Wedding Reception Music - iPods

You can save a bundle on your wedding entertainment by doing the work yourself and loading music onto your own iPod.

The pros to this method is that you know that you are going to have the exact music you really want at your wedding and, of course, the cost savings.

Things to watch out for with this option...make sure the iPod battery is fully charged before you get to the reception and plug it in once you get there.

Make sure that you have a Plan B, just in case that something happens.

You also want to make sure that your reception venue knows that you want to use an iPod at the reception and that they will be able to accomodate you.

You might have to rent some speakers depending on the size of your venue, but, in general, hooking up the iPod to the speakers is relatively easy.

Make sure that you assign a trusted volunteer to be in charge of the iPod/music so that the music could be switched up if the dance floor is too empty, etc.
