Wedding Reception Decorations Balloons

Wedding reception decorations balloons can add an enchanting feel to your wedding and wedding reception.

As a general rule of thumb, a couple can plan on spending between 10% and 20% of the total wedding budget on decorations for the ceremony and reception.

For more detail, please consult the average wedding budget page.

I think that you will agree with me when I say that nothing says "celebration" like balloons.

You can use them to set the mood, help create a theme, and make lasting memories at your even with wedding reception decorations balloons.

You can also add personality to your wedding reception and keep your younger guests busy with balloon entertainment.

Talented Balloon twisters can supply interactive fun with animals, hats, and more! You might find your adult guests just as entertained and entranced at what can be made out of balloons.

When you find a balloon professional, you can also ask if they can offer entertainment for the wedding/reception.

One thing for sure, wedding reception decorations balloons don't have to be just for the reception. They can also be used for the ceremony and for other parties and gifts you might need.

Uses for Balloon Decorations

At the Ceremony

  • Entrance - to show your guests where to enter
  • Driveway or Parking Lot - again this signals to your guests where they can park, makes navigation a lot easier for them
  • Foyer - if you use bouquets, these can be moved later to the reception.
  • Pew Decor - add more of a festive, celebratory feel rather than just using bows or flowers
  • Arch - also could be a trellis or gazebo. Use as a way to enter the ceremony, or if it outside, you could even consider using a balloon arch as a back drop to the ceremony.
  • Altar - balloons alone or mixed with flowers can make wonderful altar decorations.
  • Flower Girl - what little girl would not be entranced by balloons.
  • Getaway Car - besides the "Just Married" sign, decorate the car with balloons in your wedding colors!
  • Photo Backdrop - balloons can be colorful and well suited for a photo backdrop
  • Boutonnieres and Corsages - you might think it a little kooky but you can mix balloons and flowers together with wonderful results

At the Reception

  • Driveway or Parking Lot - as with the ceremony, this will tell your guests where it is okay for them to park and helps with navigation.
  • Entrances - I hate not knowing where to go and so do your guests, leave a trail of balloons in your wedding colors and make it easy as pie for them to find your wedding reception
  • Cocktail or Bar Areas - use wedding reception decorations balloons to point out important areas of interest to them at your reception
  • Stage - again an important area of interest you might want to look nice for your guests to look at.
  • Head Table - this one is a no brainer! Wedding reception decorations balloons can add to a beautiful display behind the head table or on. They are also great for covering up the blank wall behind the head table or if there is something on the wall that you would like covered up!
  • Guest Tables - how about incorporating some wedding reception decorations balloons into a cheap and easy centerpiece. Use tall bouquets or short, squatty bunches so as not to block views. Tall bouquets will actually help to fill up all that empty space between the floor and high ceilings
  • Cake Table - not only can you use balloons on the cake table for decoration, but why not use them as the cake topper as well!
  • Buffet Table - if you plan to have your reception dinner buffet style, why not decorate it will be a major part of your wedding reception
  • Punch Table - if you are having a punch table either while guests are waiting to enter the reception or at the reception, wedding reception decorations balloons are a great way to liven up the area.
  • Gift Table - again, wedding reception decorations balloons are a great way to signal an important aspect of your reception.
  • Dance Floor - placing balloon bouquets strategically around the dance floor area will give you and your guests the feeling that you are dancing in the clouds
  • Disc Jockey Table - again a great way to enhance.
  • Favors - makes a great party favor
  • Photo Backdrop - use arches as backdrops for wonderful wedding photos.
  • Balloon Drop - Do a balloon drop either as the newlywed couple enters and is introduced or at the end of the reception
  • Balloon Release - instead of releasing doves or butterflies, how about balloons?

And not only are balloons great decorations for your wedding ceremony and reception, but also think of some of these other great times to use them:

  • Bachelor or Bachelorette Party
  • Bridal Showers
  • Rehearsal Dinner
  • Engagement Parties
  • Welcome and Thank-you Gifts

How do You Find a Balloon Decorator?

The best way to find a good professional who is used to working with wedding reception decorations balloons is by referral.

Either by friends of family members who have used them in the past or by simply asking your event venue and other vendors for names of balloon decorators they’ve worked with in the past.

It is good if you can find one who has earned their Certified Balloon Artist (CBA) designation by completing and passing an intensive education program and are proven experts.

If all else fails you can try your local yellow pages but make sure that you get some suitable answers to questions posed further down the page.

When Should You Contact a Balloon Decorator

Since many balloon decorators can only accept a set number of events on a specific day, it’s important to contact your chosen decorator fairly early in the planning stages.

You should plan on contacting your chosen balloon decorator between three and six months ahead of your wedding date, depending on how elaborate your event will be or what time of year it falls.

Many balloon decorators will want to hold a personal consultation to discuss all your event details and your wedding reception decorations balloons needs.

What About Budget?

If you can go into a consultation or meeting with a balloon decorator with an amount figured out in your wedding budget, you should find that the professional balloon decorator wants to help you create a spectacular, memorable event at a price you can afford.

They should be able to create customized decor for any size event to suit any theme and color scheme, catering to any budget.

They also should be able to offer creative suggestions for highlighting key areas, as well as ways to stretch your budget by using decor that can serve “double duty”.

For example, some of the decorations used for the ceremony could be moved to the reception location afterward.

What to Bring When You Meet With a Balloon Decorator

When you meet with a balloon professional, it is the perfect time for you to share all your ideas about your wedding and wedding reception.

If you bring these items along with you to your meeting, it will help greatly in the planning process:

  • items that depict the color scheme, style, theme and tone of the event that you have in mind. These could include fabric swatches (of your bridesmaid's dresses, etc.) photos of the flowers, party favors, etc.
  • answers to questions your decorator will have for you including the details of the event, when and where the event will be held and when they would be allowed in to decorate.

It is also a good thing to know the height of the ceiling of the facility where you reception will be held so as to better plan for arches and other wedding reception decorations balloons.

They might also ask for the names of your photographer, caterer, and other event professionals you might be using.

Important Questions to Ask of Your Chosen Balloon Decorator

Just as important as the questions your balloon decorator will have for you, it is important for you to ask these of them:

How many weddings do you decorate each year? This questions not only their experience but also if they are too tightly booked. You don't want your wedding to suffer if they overbook themselves.

Have you decorated at my event site before? If not, will you visit the site with me? Experience with the site you have chosen for your ceremony or your reception will be helpful in knowing what finished product will look good at the venue.

May I see photographs, sketches, or sample wedding albums thatshow your work? They say that a picture is worth a thousand words....need I say more.

How will balloons help enhance my wedding style or theme? A professional will know how to use wedding reception balloons decorations in such a way that it will complement your decor and theme.

Can you provide any other items for my event/reception?(Favors, bows, toasting glasses, candles, props) It is always worth a try that they or someone else in the wedding business would be able to supply other items to you at a reduced price

Do you carry liability insurance? Always good to know to make sure that all i's are dotted and t's crossed for safety.

Do you offer special decor packages? Again, check to see if there are discount packages available that will save you money.

Will you prepare a proposal? Always a good idea to get it in writing. Remember to specify exactly what you expect to be getting for your money.

Do you have a contract I'll need to sign? This is in your best interest and in your decorator's as well. Both parties are protected by this and should be in place before money is exchanged.

For outdoor weddings/receptions, what are your guaranteesregarding weather Always good to know

What time will you arrive to set up your decor? Ensure that enough time will be available to get all set up accomplished.

Based on what we've discussed, what's the estimated costof my decor? Good to know if you are on track to keep in line with your budget.

Does your price include delivery, set-up, and/or tear-down fee(s)? Get those hidden costs out of the way. Remember, these are the kinds of things that can turn a seemingly great deal into an utter disaster.
