What is in a Theme??

Theme weddings are all the rage these days. Gone are the days of silver place settings with blue pattern bone china with a headtable a half a mile long.

Gone are the days of the horribly posed and fake wedding portraits, taffeta flying in every direction in plush purples and pinks.

Not these days... Now that more people are paying for their own weddings, they are personalizing it more and more. Picking themes to best describe the couple themselves.

Some couples sit down and pick a theme, others couples... a theme just naturally evolves out of their true personalities.

Our theme? Coffee and Chocolate.

Coffee: Our very first date - and then once a week until we moved in together - we had Coffee Night. A night we would just grab a cup of coffee and talk for hours.

No fancy dates, nothing more than a good hooded sweatshirt, an old pair of jeans and a hot cup of coffee.. and the most important ingredient.. Each other's company.

When we moved in together you would think Coffee Night would fall to the wayside... but no... not for us... now EVERY night is coffee night. FH works late... so every night when he gets home from work, we put on a pot of coffee and snuggle up close and talk about our day...

Chocolate: Brian and I have always played a game. We share a chocolate bar - or cake - or something chocolate infused, and we each take turns taking a bite until it gets down to the bare bottom.

Then the object of the game is to try to take as small of a bite as possible to force the other person to have to take the last bite.

It is NOT as easy as it looks.. and yes.. there are rules. 1) It must be large enough to be visible 2) You cannot put the piece into your mouth, take a bit and take the rest out 3) the loser MUST congratulate the winner with a kiss and a smile.

We are simple people... so when we sat down to think of centerpieces and favors what did we come up with? Coffee and Chocolate.

So we will be making Coffee Bean filled vases with tiger lilies on top and hand dipped chocolate stirring spoons in Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Mint and Dark Chocolate flavors.

I will be doing some dry runs of these projects right after the holidays so that we will be able to get the chocolate spoons just right... I will make sure to include pics when that happens.

So what's in a theme? In our case... the smallest and most refined definition of our love.
