Comment by Diane:Hello Hope,
Thanks for writing to us about these two online wedding dress suppliers.
I'm not familiar with these two suppliers so if there is anyone out there who has had dealings with them, please do take some time and write in.
In the meantime, let's take a looksee at them!
www.dressok.com - Is a really new company; it has been online for only 1 year and 1 week (as of June 2011).
What I don't understand is why on their "about us" they say that they have been in business for 10 years. So something is not jiving there!
It is based in China and you can get in touch with them through email, telephone, live chat and they include a snail mail address as well.
A quick look at their return policy reveals a full refund for the purchase price plus shipping and handling if the dress is defective.
It does not mention a restocking fee which is refreshing but I would definitely ask them if one is charged prior to ordering.
Some suppliers charge up to 50% restocking fee so this is important to know!
It is also important to ask what they determine to be "defective". They also have other areas on their return policy page that covers size errors and color errors that you should read through.
Their "shipping and time" page seems kind of bizarre to me.
"It will take 3-5 working days to tailor your dresses by professional dressmaker. Also it will take about 5-10 working days for the package travel from our facilities to your destination"
I don't think that you could possibly make a high quality wedding dress in 3-5 days! What do you think?
Before ordering from this company, I would definitely contact them and ask questions. I noticed that they are probably using designer dress pictures on their site, but what you are going to receive is a knock-off.
brideswardrobe.com - This is another very young company and site; only 1 year, 10 months (as of June 2011).
It is also located in China and you can get in touch with them through contact form, email, snail mail and telephone.
On their FAQ page, they advise to order your dress one month before your wedding. I highly advise NOT to do this.
They say on their website that it will take 25 days in total to get your dress; ordering one month prior to your wedding would only allow 5 days for fitting and alterations! And that's if everything goes ok!
It was a little hard to find their return policy but I eventually found it on their site map.
According to their return policy page, they don't allow returns...
"All our dresses are made according to your own measurements and color you want after your full payment, so we can not refund you after your purchase under any circumstances. Please confirm your order before you pay to assure that you will get the one as you like."I really don't know if I would be comfortable with this policy.
Again ask questions prior to ordering about their dresses and whether they are knock-offs of original designers (highly likely).
Please be careful...I personally find the American based suppliers such as
Romantic Gowns,
My Gowns.com,
Plus Size Bridal more reliable and accountable.
