Is www.dressale.com a reliable company?

Hi

I ordered 2 wedding dresses from Dressale.com and they contacted me to say the dresses will be late.

I read a terrible review on their facebook page and was wondering if anyone has dealt with them before or if they even exist?

Comment by Diane:

I am not familiar with this company so if there is anyone else out there who has ordered from this company, please do let us know by writing a review.

In the meantime, let's take a little look at this company, www.dressale.com

It has been online for 1 year 8 months (as of May 2011) so it is a really young company compared to some that have been around for years.

They are yet another cheap Chinese wedding dress suppliers that have popped up on the internet and unfortunately, have surfaced on my website.

The only ways to contact them it seems is by live chat or by form. I couldn't find a phone number or mailing address...red flag, I really don't like dealing with a company who likes to hide itself.

I do note that they seem to reply on their facebook page sometimes.

I have checked out their Facebook page and discovered quite a few complaints about dressale.com as well.

Most seem to center on their not being able to deliver the goods (dresses) on time even though on their site they say We have exclusive contracts with many Chinese and Indian manufacturers, who continuously supply our warehouses with their latest dress models.

I will be contacting the ladies on the Facebook page and ask them to tell their stories on this website so that they could be a warning to other brides.

I have also found this detailed Ripoff Report - Dressale.com from a lady who ordered two dresses for herself and her daughter for her son's wedding.

I'm really hoping that everything works out for you, but you might be headed down the same path as the other ladies that never received their dresses on time as they have already contacted you to tell you the dresses would be late.

I think that I would prepare yourself to locate another dress to make sure that you have something for your wedding.

If you have paid through a credit card or through Paypal, I would contact them and start a complaint or inquiry into this company and this transaction so that you could get your money back should you so require to do so.

Please do write back and let us know what happened in your situation.

I personally find the American based suppliers such as My Gowns.com, Plus Size Bridal more reliable and accountable.

Keep in touch,

Diane

dressale.com

by Alisa
(Las Vegas, NV)

Never order from this site, www.dressale.com unless you like flushing money down the toilet.

I paid $130 for a dress. They emailed that it was made wrong, so I have to pay $60 for the "wasted fabric".

Comment by Diane:

Hello Alisa,

Thanks for taking the time to write to us about your experience with dressale.com

So, let me get this straight...they made a mistake manufacturing your dress and want you to pay for the wasted fabric!!!!

Well, that's a new one! Can't say that I've ever heard that one before.

I can only imagine your reply back...I probably couldn't post it here (we're a family friendly site, don't ya know!)

I was asked about this site, dressale.com by another bride who ordered her dress from this company and then started to become alarmed at the amount of negative feedback on this company's own facebook page.

Most of those comments and posts relate to the company's inability to fulfill the order by the due date.

The result is a lot of dresses not ready by the wedding date...so brides have to go elsewhere at the last minute to get the perfect dress for their special day.

Could you write back to tell us what happened? Did you ever receive your dress? What was the quality like? Or did you try to get a refund?

Thanks for taking the time to write to us here about your experience with dressale.com

Take care and best wishes to you always,

Diane

Mother of the Bride Nightmare - Dressale.com

by Miss Daisy
(AZ)

I ordered a custom made gown from Dressale.com.

They asked that I get tailored measurements for my dress.

My dress states on website that it is two-piece, strapless with detachable sleeves/straps.

I could also have a bolero jacket made to order to match the dress.

I did this for a total of $185.oo including the shipping for three pieces custom made and shipped to me.

I talked to Live Chat before I sent the measurements and money to confirm that the dress was going to be made as stated on webpage and was told yes.

My order arrived in time from Dressale.com but the detachable sleeves/straps were not with dress.

The jacket is made too small and not to the measurement given.

After some 40 emails back and forth they want me to send them more money to remake the jacket that they say on their website a 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee.

The last email I received on 9/6/11 and their actual words: Hi, Thanks for your email, i'm sorry, I just got a message from the manufacturer, they said they can remake it for you if you can pay $20 to our account: paypal@maso.hk, then tell us your transaction so that we can remake it for you and send it to you in time. But if you dont agree, i'm afraid we only can refund you $20 as compensation, hope you can understand, Thanks.

They must be out of their minds if they think I am going to send them another $20 or believe I will receive $20 back to my account, their whole statement does not make sense.

This is a company you should avoid at all costs.

I wish I had seen the ripoff reports before ordering from Dressale.com.

I live in a small rural area so now I have to travel 100 miles to try and have this matched up to an unusual color and try to get something fixed before 9/27/11.

Comment by Diane:

Hello Miss Daisy,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your experience with Dressale.com

It's not very nice dealing with these situations and these kinds of companies certainly do not do anything to encourage online spending.

Believe me, there are some very reputable online wedding dress suppliers that are located in the USA such as TJ Formal and Plus Size Bridal.

I do find that a lot of these kinds of companies want you to order "custom" sizes because usually their return policies state that no returns available on "custom order sizes".

I hope that you do get some satisfaction at the end of all of this and do hope that you find the perfect dress for your special day.

Best wishes to you always,

Diane

Dressale company in Hong Kong

by cavalierskye
(Australia)

I waited 6 months for my dress to arrive from dressale.com

Whenever I sent an email regarding delivery I would get an email apologising for delay and this went on and on.

I finally asked for my money back and they said they would keep $50 of it for handling etc.

I then contacted Consumer Affairs in Hong Kong who took up my case and sent Dressale a letter and today I have got the full refund.

So don't let them swindle you - get your money back!

Comment by Diane:

Hello and thanks for writing in about your experience with dressale.com

Yours is not the only review about dressale.com that is on this site...

Dressale.com - 1

Dressale.com - 2

Dressale.com - 3

Dressale.com - 4

Dressale.com - 5

It seems that they have a problem fulfilling dress orders in time for the wedding!

I'm glad that you mentioned another way to get your money back. Contacting Consumer Affairs in Hong Kong is an excellent idea which indeed worked for you!

Thanks so much for writing and letting us know,

Dressale is a Terrible Company

by smg106
(NY NY)

I recently bought a dress for one of my bridesmaids from Dressale.com.

When the dress arrived it was the wrong color (black, not blue), the hems were uneven (the sides were longer than the front and back and none were the same length), the skirt was way too short (mid thigh instead of knee length), and the straps were so short she could not move her arms.

This is a clear case of a defective product.

However, they have refused to refund the $120 I spent.

They have only offered a $20 refund and $20 discount on future orders.

This has been possibly the worst customer service experience ever.

When I emailed their customer service and asked how to return the dress and get a refund, I was given the complete runaround.

First, they insisted that I take pictures and measurements of the dress so they could share them with their manufacturer so the manufacturer could decide if there was a problem.

Then they told me that I should take it to a local tailor to have it altered and they would reimburse me.

Multiple emails later I still couldn't convince them that the wrong color could not be fixed or that made the dress unwearable.

Plus each time you email it goes to a general email box so I had to repeat the problem over and over again to at least 6 or 7 different people.

This company refuses to take responsibility for the quality of their products or the satisfaction of their customers.

In the last email they have sent to me, they told me that they could only refund me $20 because they could not bear the burden of losing money on the dress.

Apparently it is fine if I lose $100 on the defective dress.

In addition to the difficulty I had, both my sister and my other bridesmaid have had bad experiences ordering the same dress.

My sister's dress was delayed so many times, she finally just cancelled the order.

She told them the event was 5/10 and they asked if they could deliver the dress on 5/30.

My bridesmaid did receive her dress after 1 delay and it was also terrible quality and ill fitting.

She described it as "Judy Jetson meets Little Bo Peep" which is not the look I was going for in a bridesmaid's dress.

Again the straps were so short that she could not move her arms.

I would strongly recommend that people do not buy from Dressale.com

They do not care about the quality of the products they sell or their customers.

Comment by Diane:

Hello and thanks for taking the time to write about your experience with this company.

You are definitely not the first person to complain about this company.

I agree with you totally that even an extremely talented seamstress couldn't have fixed the color of your dress!

A lot of these companies also charge you a large restocking fee so that if they even agree to take the dress back, they refund you sometimes only half of the money you paid plus you have to pay for the shipping which is usually back to China.

You might have a better time getting your money back if you paid for your purchase through Paypal or a credit card company.

Do check into it and let us know what happens.

If you can, please take some pictures of the dress and post so we can see their "handiwork".

Thanks again for writing and take care,

Diane

Dressale.com.........STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!

by Misty
(Midway, GA)

I am one of the unfortunate people who made the mistake of ordering from Dressale.com without checking reviews first.

It has been nothing but a nightmare for me.

The only good thing....my dresses arrived on schedule.

I'd have been happier if I'd never gotten them.

Three were ordered, three arrived.

Two were horribly constructed and looked nothing like the website indicated.

Totally not what I ordered.

The third was the wrong color and even though extra was paid for alterations, alterations still need to be done because dressale got that wrong, too.

One of the dresses is falling apart and has never even been put on.

I contacted them with photos as proof of my issues asking for a refund or exchange and their initial response was to offer a $30 discount on a future purchase.

After a month of complaining to them and threats to sue, they are now offering a $90 refund.

I paid that much just for the shipping costs!

They say they will lose money if they give a full refund.

Nearly $500 was spent on the three dresses.

I have since had to go out and purchase new dresses to replace the disastrous messes they sent.

They admit that the mistake is theirs, but will do nothing to correct it other than offer the piddly excuse for a refund and a discount on future purchases.

They care nothing about their customers, as long as they're getting paid for sending out crap that isn't fit to wear.

Comment by Diane:

Hello Misty,

Thanks for taking the time to write about your experience with dressale.com

There have been many brides shedding tears of frustration over dealing with this Chinese company.

So don't think you are alone in this, but it is good to write reviews of your experience to help another future bride out!

You might find it helpful to file a dispute with your credit card company or with Paypal (if you paid through them).

You can also check in with Consumer Council which is their version of the Better Business Bureau to see if that will help.

Take care and thanks for writing in,

Diane

Review of supplier Dressale.com

by Hannah Brown
(USA)

At first,I was nervous about ordering a dress online without seeing it or trying it on.

I was not disappointed though, it is satisfied, besides it is cheaper than some other websites.

The only thing I have to say is the shipment, the dress is delayed for 5 days, I think they should improve it.

Comment by Diane:

Hello Hannah,

Thanks for writing to us about your experience with this wedding dress supplier.

From other reviews that I've received about this company, dressale.com I think that you have gotten off easy.

You say your dress was delayed 5 days, where a lot of other reviewers say theirs were delayed weeks and months.

Some others never received their dress in time for their event and so had to go to Paypal or their credit card company to get a refund as this company would not give them one.

I personally find the American based suppliers such as My Gowns.com, Plus Size Bridal more reliable and accountable.

Never Use Dressale.com

by Alissa
(New York)

Three of us ordered custom-sized bridesmaid dresses from dressale.com 3 months ahead of the wedding.

They promised to deliver within 30 days.

After 30 days my dress had not arrived.

When I tried to log on to their website it was down for 4-5 days. I emailed them and they said they needed almost another month.

I told them that this was unacceptable that I needed it in 3 days or I wanted my money back. They said they would try.

The deadline came and went and no dress.

One of the other girls got her dress but the material was cheap and they made the straps so short she couldn't lift her arms.

Dressale.com of course, are refusing to refund her money.

The third girl has yet to even get her dress.

I was able to get my money back through PayPal.

So, if you want to use this company I suggest paying with PayPal or your credit card so at least you'll have a way to possibly get your money back.
