Wedding Decorations Set the Scene

Wedding decorations are important for setting the color scheme and style of your wedding day.

Definitely let your imagination run wild and add your unique, personal touch to reflect your personalities and tastes.

Save 10% on wedding favors and decor

Decorating for your ceremony won't be as difficult because the main decorative element will be you, your partner and your wedding party.

You will be carrying or wearing beautiful flowers and wearing the most gorgeous clothing.

Still, there are ways to decorate the ceremony space such as using:

  • altar decorations
  • candelabra
  • unity candles
  • altar railings
  • pew bows
  • pew candles
  • aisle runners

If you are getting married in a place other than a church or other place of worship, try to draw the attention to the area where you are going to exchange your vows.

Some settings will have obvious places, whereas others you will have to "create" that perfect spot.

When exchanging vows outside, look for a large tree, gazebo, archway, or beautiful view to serve as a backdrop.

You might want to even incorporate an arch or columns into your area. Check out Wedding Arch and Column Decorations.

Remember to check out the location ahead of time around the same time of day when you will be having your ceremony so that you can see where the sun will be.

You certainly wouldn't want you or your guests squinting into the sun!

Find Your Focal Point

If you can't find the perfect focal point, create one yourself with rented arches or potted plants. Just make sure that everything, including the "altar" is firmly in place should a sudden gust of wind suddenly appear.

It might be difficult to find a company who will rent you an aisle runner for an outdoor wedding due to grass staining but you might be able to find a paper or plastic runner.

In general, the reception site is more complicated to decorate than the ceremony site. Unless you are having your ceremony and reception in the same place, the reception hall will have a much larger amount of space to decorate and accessorize.

Also, your guests will be spending a lot of time at your reception site, so it is very important to make it a pleasant and special environment.

Definitely check out your blank canvas beforehand with your partner, friends or consultant and make notes (and maybe take pictures, if allowed) as to what you see:

  • What is the first thing you see upon entering the space?
  • Are there unattractive or worn areas that possible need to be camoflaged?
  • Are there any design elements such as arches or pillars which could be played up with flowers, tulle, etc.?
  • Don't forget to look up! How does that ceiling look? Does it need spiffing up or hidden with dim lighting?
  • Don't forget to check out the restrooms? Could they use some decorative touches as well?

After you answer these questions, you can look into the wedding decorations for the following key elements which will more than likely be present at your reception:

  • The Entrance
  • Gift Table
  • Cake Table
  • Centerpieces
  • Table Linens

Please, please, please don't feel that you must limit yourself to the same old decorations that everybody else uses.

One of the ways I love to add to unique and memorable decorations is with the use of Wedding Reception Decorations Balloons.

And remember, your wedding will be so much more memorable and unique if you incorporate your interests and loves into your decor. Whether it be sailing, riding, whatever.

If you are having a theme wedding, you should definitely continue the theme through your wedding decorations.
