One of the things I love to do when I first enter a wedding reception is to check out the wedding reception centerpieces.

The reason...at 90% of the weddings that I've attended, they are given away to one of the lucky guests at the table. The other 10%, I don't know whether they "rent" them from the reception site or what but they do announce that the table centerpieces are staying put. Now, I'm dealing with the games you could play with your wedding reception centerpieces on this page. If you would like more information on actual wedding centerpiece, there's lots of information on my Wedding Flowers page. Particularly if the centerpiece is pretty or original, you can see each wedding guest eying the floral arrangement. Since there is only one centerpiece and at least 6 to 8 or more guests at each table, you have to come up with a fair way to distribute the "prize".
Here are some ideas for giving away reception table centerpieces- Use Numbers - One of the easiest ways to figure out who gets to take home the table centerpiece is to assign number on each of the guest's place card.
When the time comes, just choose a number, have it announced and whoever has the number on their place card gets the centerpiece. - Treasure Hunt - Having a table to table treasure hunt is another fun way to find out who gets the wedding reception centerpiece.
Have the DJ, bandleader, or MC go from table to table with a pre-arranged list of items that each table has to come up with. The first guest at each table to produce each requested item wins the centerpiece. Pick items such as a lipstick, a compact, a business card, etc. - The Person Who Has or Is... - This is a fast way to distribute the wedding reception centerpieces. Just choose a question for each table to answer such as "The Person who is the Oldest", "The Person Who Just Celebrated a Birthday", etc.
Your guests at each table will figure out who fits the phrase and who then gets to take the centerpiece home. - Musical napkins, or whatever - Have all your guests choose an object to pass around the table. Your DJ or band starts playing music and your guests start passing the item around.
Whichever guest is holding the item when the music stops can win the centerpiece or, if you want to toss it up a bit to prevent cheating, you can choose the person to the right or left of the person who is holding the item. You can also change it up by eliminating the person that ends up with the item and continuing until there is only one person left at the table.

So, you can see that not only do your wedding reception centerpieces add to your wedding reception decoration, but it can also be a great source of enjoyment and entertainment for your guests. Games to Play If You Aren't Giving Away Centerpieces:Unwrap the Gift - This is a great game to play if you aren't able to give away your wedding centerpiece to the guests at the table. Instead, wrap a small gift inside a box, find another box a bit bigger and then wrap the small box inside the larger box. Keep doing this until you have several layers...remember to wrap with lots of paper and tape (you want to make it challenging!). Make one of these "gifts" for each guest table you are going to have at your wedding reception. Then, at your reception bring out the gifts and instruct your dj or band to start playing music. When the music starts let one of your guests at each table start unwrapping the "present". When the music stops, they must pass the present to the next guest at the table and the music starts again. The guest who unwraps the whole gift at the end gets the "prize".
There are a lot of different games you can play at your wedding reception. You can find some games to play at Printable Games AtoZ. They have great games you can immediately print for use. Check them out!
