Wedding Reception Wording is important to use when inviting guests only to the reception after the wedding.
There are a few different reasons why you might be inviting guests only to the reception. In one instance, your ceremony venue might be too small to hold all of your guests, so you have chosen to invite only immediate family to watch you take your vows.

Actually, if you find that you are in this category, looking to have your wedding on a Friday will save you big money and naturally cut down on the guests coming to the church, etc. since not everyone can/will take a day off of work to attend your daytime wedding. Receptions are notoriously more expensive on a Saturday evening compared to all other times of the week. Another instance is in the event of having a destination wedding. Not everyone will be able to travel with you to attend your wedding, but they would still like to congratulate and celebrate with you. Plan a reception to invite the guests who couldn't come.
If you plan to wed at one time and then have the reception at a later time, then that would be another time to use wedding reception wording. Don't be surprised if you raise a few eyebrows or bear the brunt of hurt feelings from family and friends not invited to the wedding ceremony. It's important to use the correct wedding eception wording so as not to cause any confusion as to where your guests are supposed to go. The following is a good way to word a reception-only invite:
Miss _____________________ (bride's first and middle name)andMr. ________________________ (groom's first, middle and last name)Will be joined in marriage_________, the __ of ________ [day of the week, day and month of wedding]at ____ o'clock [time of wedding] in the _________ [time of day]___________________ [name of the location of wedding]_________, ____________ [city and state/province where wedding will take place]
Please join them at a reception to celebrate their marriageHosted by ___________________ (whoever is hosting, parents, etc.)at ____ o'clock [time of wedding] in the _________ [time of day]___________________ [name of the location of wedding]_________, ____________ [city and state/province where wedding will take place]
If you feel weird about asking people to the reception but not the wedding you might want to add... "The only gift the happy couple requests is the gift of your presence!" Don't be surprised if you still get gifts from people, but at least you gave them that option to opt out. You can also check out the wording for regular invitations at Wedding Invitation Wording.
